Tickets available in Museum & online

Julia Bowen will tell us how Twinning originated, how Malmesbury became involved and what has been achieved.
Julia will tell the story of Twinning from post-war reparation, how and why it developed in Malmesbury; from the original Youth Exchange set up in 1954, the eventual Twinning
agreement with Niebull in Schleswig Holstein and Gien in the Loiret region of France.
Hear about links with Malmesbury, South Africa, Bad Hersfeld in Hesse, Germany (now a
Twin Town) and, more recently, a Friendship link with Cherkasy in Ukraine. Plus a possible
future link with Norway – it’s all about Aethelstan!
Most importantly, what does Twinning bring to the communities which are linked?
