Volunteers working for Athelstan

Volunteering

The Athelstan Museum is run by Volunteers; without them the Museum would not exist.

As well as the day-to-day running of the Museum, which usually involves a 2 hour session on the front desk, there are many different roles open to the volunteers.  These could include looking after the collection, auditing, photographing and accessioning new items; helping run the education programme for local schools and other adult groups; assist with the running of the Museum shop and opportunities to become involved in specific projects such as the Roman Coin Hoard Project.

The Museum is accredited with the Arts Council and therefore adheres to professional museum standards.  However you do not need to have any previous museum experience to get involved.

If you would like to meet new people, acquire new skills, learn about the history of this historic town and support a well-loved local institution then please get in touch.

To join our volunteers please either:

  • fill in a volunteer form in the Museum
  • fill in the volunteer form below
